"Lighting Your Way To Good Health"



Welcome to Janruary, 2012. A brand new year and brand new opportunities. The coming of the new year allows you to reflect on the year that has passed and the year that is a head of you. I would like to thank all of those who made this passed year amazing for me.
It has been a tradition of mine to sit down at the end of each year and reflect on your own accomplishments. During the year, I write down my number one thing I like to accomplish for the week, my three top priorities, and a five other tasks I would like to accomplish in different areas of my life. It allows me to keep organized and to keep track of the progress I make to achieve my goals. By the end of the year, I can see how all of my efforts contributed to all the successes I have had. It generally leaves me with a sense of pride, a sense of accomplishment, and it is good for the self-esteem. I can also track the areas in which I have grown, and how much I have contributed to the local community. If you are anything like myself, my memory is not good enough to recap all the steps and all the work it takes to achieve your goals. When you break it down into small steps, and you give yourself the time it takes to prepare, you will be amazed with yourself of how much you can accomplish.
All the best wishes for 2012 and I hope everyone enjoyed their festivities this Christmas!

Ten Steps to achieve Your Goals:

1. Write them down. Have a list of ideas of the things you want to achieve in one year. The more ideas the better. Remember you don't have to achieve everything in one year. You set the time frame to complete your goals.

2. Prioritize your goals. The things that are the most improtant to should be at the top of your list. There will also be times that other tasks may need your immediate attention. Have patients and know that you are making your best possible effort, and when you can you will continue to achieve your goals.

3. Make attainable goals. Try not to overwhelm yourself. You may find that some tasks require more effort and others will not require as much effort. Be flexible, the knowledge you gained from experiences helps you to better plan for your future.

4. Break it down into small steps. Think of what it will take to accomplish your goal. This will help to create a time line to achieve your goals. This will also help you not to feel overwhelmed while accomplishing your task.

5. Do some research. If you are unsure how to set a time line or what steps it would take to achieve your goal then use your resource tools i.e. internet, library, videos, etc.

6. Ask for Advice. Talk to someone who has already been through the experience. Their knowledge and experience can give you the insight you need to make sure that you are not missing anything in your action plan.

7. Ask for help when needed. If you find you are struggling to accomplish your goal, talk to friend. It may help to find a solution to the problem. Even if you don't find a solution, the encouragement from someone who cares can help keep you motivated.

8. Re-visit your goals often. Look to see what progress you have made. Look to see what areas need to be changed. This will help to keep you on target and on track.

9. Post your goals where you can see it. Having a visual reminder will help keep you motivated weekly or even daily.

10. Never give up! The sure way to fail is by not trying.

It is important to take care of all areas of your health. Today, in the fast paced world, disease and illness are prevalent. Here are a few tips to take care of your mind, body and life.

Mind: take time for yourself. Learn quiet your mind i.e. reading. Go for a walk.

Body: Obtain eight hours of sleep each night. Have a regular exercise and stretching program i.e. 3-4x/week. Have regular massage i.e. once a month.

Life: Set obtainalbe goals for yourself. Use the 10 steps to achieve them. De-clutter your environment. This will create an atmosphere for new and positive things to enter into your life.
